Forest Bathing: Returning to Presence

Most of us spend our days moving from one responsibility to the next without ever fully arriving where we are.

Forest Bathing, or Shinrin-yoku, offers a different invitation. Not another thing to accomplish, but a chance to slow down, pay attention, and reconnect with yourself through the natural world.

Join Cynthia Adams for a grounded conversation about how nature can support presence, reflection, and a deeper sense of connection.

Step out of autopilot.
Slow down enough to notice what often gets missed in the rush of everyday life.

Experience nature differently.

Explore how presence, attention, and curiosity can deepen your relationship with the natural world.

Reconnect with yourself.

Leave feeling more grounded, restored, and connected from the inside out.

ABOUT THE SESSION

Shinrin-yoku, often translated as “forest bathing,” is the practice of slowing down and taking in the atmosphere of the natural world through the senses. It is not a hike, a workout, or a naturalist lecture. It is an invitation to meet nature in a more attentive, embodied, and receptive way.

In this gathering, Cynthia Adams will offer a brief introduction to the principles of Shinrin-yoku, followed by a gentle guided experience in the park, weather permitting. Together, we’ll explore how mindful time in nature can help quiet the nervous system, restore attention, awaken the senses, and open a more spacious relationship with ourselves and the world around us.

Participants do not need any prior experience. Please wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. We will move slowly and spend time standing or sitting quietly. You may want to bring water, a small notebook, and something to sit on if you prefer not to sit directly on the ground.

Cynthia Adams has spent most of her life in conversation with nature. For decades, the woods, mountains, rivers, and trails have been where she goes for clarity, steadiness, spiritual sustenance, and a deeper sense of belonging.

She has trained as a conservation guide, volunteered with The Nature Conservancy, and is currently pursuing a forest guide certification. Cynthia is also a certified Jungian life coach, a practice that deepened her interest in the relationship between psyche, symbol, imagination, and the living world.

Cynthia is drawn to Shinrin-yoku because it offers practice and validation for something many of us know intuitively: that mindful time in nature can nourish, regulate, heal, and transform us. For her, Shinrin-yoku invites us into a liminal space beyond ordinary busyness, where we can listen differently and experience the deeper continuity between ourselves and the natural world.
